ABOUT HELISPIRIT

HeliSpirit is a helicopter tourism and charter company based in the Kimberley, Pilbara and Katherine regions of far-north Australia.

Renowned for a commitment to providing a wide range of reliable, highly professional helicopter services to a diverse range of industries. Our capabilities include; passenger charter, search and rescue, aerial geophysical work, photography, scenic flights and tailor-made itineraries.

HeliSpirit specialise in tourism, with a rich history dating back to 1984 where the company became the pioneers of scenic helicopter flights over the Bungle Bungle Range.

Through our safety management system we strive to maintain a safe and efficient helicopter organisation that can provide the highest levels of safety available.

Our head office is in Kununurra – the gateway to the East Kimberley, a tropical town with around 8,000 residents. Kununurra is 42km from the Northern Territory border and services tens of thousands of tourists each year with the tourist season running from April – October. HeliSpirit has bases in Kununurra, Karratha, Warmun, Mitchell Falls, Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle), El Questro, Bullo River Station, Katherine, Esperance and Lake Argyle.

Locally owned, HeliSpirit was formerly Heliwork WA. Slingair and Heliwork WA were founded by Kimberley aviation pioneer Kerry Slingsby, bought by Curry Kenny Aviation in 2008 and then the Aviator Group in 2011. In 2014 Michael McConachy and Geoff Hamilton purchased Heliwork WA and rebranded it HeliSpirit. In 2016 they purchased Aviair, an aeroplane charter and regular passenger service regional airline operating air services from Broome, Karratha and Kununurra.

HeliSpirit operates a fleet of 26 helicopters so, no matter where you want to go, we have the aircraft to fulfil your requirements.

Our mission capabilities include; helicopter charter hire, mining support, search and rescue, aerial geophysical work, film & photography, scenic flights & tailor-made itineraries, aerial survey & inspection, aerial sling load & heavy lifting, fire services, flood support, diseased & feral animal control and helicopter maintenance services. Our affiliated helicopter flight training school Australian Helicopter Academy provides commercial helicopter flight training.

We are a green travel leader and have held our ECO accreditation for over 20 years. We respect the environment through sustainable management programs.

FLEET

Our helicopters are chosen to suit our remote locations, the needs of our customers and the harsh environment we operate in. The helicopter fleet includes the Airbus H125 B3 Squirrel, Bell Longrangers, Bell Jetrangers, Robinson R66, Robinson R44 and Robinson R22’s for flight training.

FACILITIES

Our administration, flight training and maintenance facility is in Kununurra. We have remote helicopter bases at: Purnululu National Park, Mitchell River National Park, El Questro, Bullo River Station, Lake Argyle, Esperance, Karratha and Katherine. Our partner company Aviair has terminal, administration and maintenance facilities in Kununurra, Broome and Karratha.
